Cat Tunks

A self described musical gypsy, Catherine Tunks is a songwriter / vocalist that has walked through crossroads of many musical influences. Helped with what she says is 'a little black magic' she is forever on a musical road trip through a land where the boundaries of blues, Americana, gospel and country become one.

From the bush clad hills of the wild west and no stranger to the Auckland music scene, a career that stretches back to the jazz and soul soaked days of her former group Black Sand Diva has seen 3 album releases, Waiata Maori Music award and International Songwriting nominations, blended with regular performances and recording sessions in Ireland, Germany, US, and around the South Pacific.

After the 2016 release of her alt Country EP 'The Beautiful Dreamers, she now can be found around NZ alongside her 70's Americana/Blues inspired country-rock group The Bona Fide Band - 'the full rodeo of original country soul, gospel strong vocals, sweet tunes and down home country Blues.

She is joined at Kumeu Live for an unplugged performance with band mate and guitarist Gavin Dowling and special guests.This year a preview of the singles Blind Faith and The Drinking Song - (a video homage to her love of Northlands Hokianga Harbour) are a small taste of whats to come with her soon to be released fourth album 'Be Like Water' due late September.
