Coming up next in our Front Room Gallery is the wonderful Nicky Jolly, she is creating work for an exhibition in October.

Potter Nicky Jolly makes sculptural and functional pots that enhance everyday living. With glazes that complement the clay form and set off the food. Nicky has been crafting original handcrafted pottery for 39 years.

Now living in Kerikeri, she was a long time member of the Auckland pottery scene. People may remember her work at “Pots of Ponsonby” and the Titirangi market.

"It's been 12 years since I had a solo show... Working for a show instead of craft markets has been therapeutic and I am surprised at my direction.

Potters may be interested in (or disgusted by) my fake ash, wood and celadon glazes (must be missing those firings), and teapots! When did I last make one of those. Also lots of birds. The exhibition is called "Centred". I centre the clay and the clay centres me. "I have been hand building and throwing on the wheel, sometimes a combination of both.”

The Front Room Gallery is a small gallery in Point Chevalier. We mainly have exhibition of pottery and clay related work. The gallery is a part of our house and Brendan has his studio attached. When we are not displaying an exhibition Brendan fills the gallery with his work and it is available for purchase. Check our website for his latest creation and opening hours.
