Challenging the Deep – Family Day

Join the OM team on the Museum Reserve for a day of hands-on, deep sea-inspired science explorations, and lots more.

Learn how oceans absorb heat from the atmosphere, discover more about the impact of global warming, see demonstrations of acidification of the ocean, and hear about density and just what happens when salty water meets fresh.

Come meet your coastal neighbours, and get up close to marine flora and fauna at the Marine Studies Aqua Van and Touch Tank. Meet marine critters commonly found along the Otago coast including crabs, sea stars, kina, sea slugs, and more, and learn how these animals are specially adapted for life in the sea.
