"Colour! What a deep and mysterious language, the language of dreams." - Paul Gauguin

‘Colour-full’ is an exhibition consisting of a collection of vibrant artworks layered with stunning colours. The artworks convey a mood or tell a story, the desire is to fulfill an emotional response both for artists and the viewer.

Creating art is the artists’ happy place, and colour is the language that speaks to them both and gives them a format from which to speak. The exhibition will feature approximately 18 acrylic and coloured pencil artworks, with most pieces offered for sale, including prints.

Originally from Auckland, Mary Bagnall left her job as a teacher to move to Hawke's Bay, where she has pursued her passion of visual arts. In 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor of Māori Visual Arts from Te Wānanga O Aotearoa. Mary’s artworks have been influenced by Māori and Pacific artists, as well as the great Expressionists.

She has exhibited her work both locally and internationally and has recently been having fun designing and painting many street murals for the local council and Chorus.

Self taught artist, Maxine McClenaghan moved to a farm in Northland, after teaching visual arts and dance in Auckland for 13 years. Maxine runs regular children’s art classes and has facilitated students to paint large murals and to annually exhibit their artworks.

She is now excited to be following another dream - to focus on creating her own artworks which depict her love of all things New Zealand, and her current interest of symbolism, and pop surrealism.
