Beloved children’s entertainer Suzy Cato joins the full Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for a free concert.

Cato will present a programme of music that spins the colour wheel – exploring what ‘light’ and ‘dark’ sound like in music.

This hour of colourful music includes Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre (used in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Grimm) and an excerpt from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, based on the famous Shakespeare play.

The orchestra is proud to perform a moving new work by Dr Charles Royal, APO’s Te Arapūoru Community Commission, joined by Kapa Haka group Taniwha Ventures.

The composer will come to the stage to explain the piece and introduce it with a formal karakia.
