Don Pasquale is a wealthy bachelor, who lives with his nephew Ernesto, who is a huge disappointment. Ernesto refuses to marry the girl of Pasquale’s chosing, and insists he loves only Norina. Frustrated, Pasquale asks his doctor’s help to find him a suitable, docile bride to produce an heir.
Dr Malatesta, moved by the plight of Ernesto and Norina, finds the ideal candidate: Cordelia, fresh out of the convent (here’s the twist! It’s Norina in disguise!) Hilarity ensues.
