The early start Denver model is an extremely promising intervention which has been used in over 35 countries worldwide. It is a play-based behavioural therapy that targets a wide range of developmental skills for children with or suspected to have autism and who are under the age of 5. ESDM therapy aims to accelerate child learning through fun interactions which are embedded in daily routines and play.

Our team leader Dr Hannah Waddington (lecturer, certified ESDM therapist and practising educational psychologist) will be running this ESDM workshop focusing on hands-on strategies for helping your child to learn from watching others. Many children with autism have difficulty copying the actions, words, and noises of others. Therefore, the specific focus of this workshop will be strategies for teaching imitation, and how we can teach these skills within play routines.

Tickets for this event are $25 for professionals working with children with autism and $15 for each whānau member who has a child with autism. Places are limited to 35 people.
