Welcome to our first programme for 2019. We start with Open Mic from 4pm.
This is always an interesting session - poets and musicians are welcome. From about 5pm we present our guest artists, poet Rachel Doré and musician Peyton Morete. Rachel counts the description of her poems as ‘robust’ as one of the nicest compliments she’s received. As she says, “Poetry is in my marrow.”
A recovering Aucklander now living in rural Manawatu, Rachel is also an artist, writer, creativity coach, and recently programme developer & director of the Manawatu Writers’ Festival.
Peyton is a singer-songwriter from the Kapiti Coast who has been performing regularly for the last six years in the Wellington and Manawatu areas, including recently at Wellington’s Botanic Gardens Magic Summer City Series. Her soulful, powerful and contemporary music gives a voice to many of the issues facing young people today.
