Add another layer to your felt making in this creative, hands-on workshop.

In this workshop we will learn to add texture and detail to our felt by using fabric and prefelts. Over the course of an afternoon you will make two small felt landscapes, which make beautiful wall hangings or can be incorporated into other textile projects. You will be shown a range of techniques, and be taken step by step through the felt making process. This workshop is best suited for people with some felt making experience.

Wet felt making is a traditional craft that can be used to make a wide range of practical and creative objects. You will leave with the skills to continue felting at home... be warned, it's addictive!

Materials list: Please bring 2 towels and any fabric scraps that you would like to include in your landscapes (natural fabrics - silk, cotton, wool etc. work best). All other felt making materials will be provided.

This workshop is held at XCHC, 376 Wilsons road, Waltham. Pedro's cafe will be open onsite with a range of delicious food and drinks.

Your tutor:
Simone Bensdorp: Felt maker / Artist / Teacher.

I have been creating all my life, I trained first as an illustrator then a teacher before falling in love with felt making. I enjoy making both practical and artistic felt works, which range from slippers to sculptures! My experience comes from countless studio hours creating, plus I have studied with several international felt makers.

I have exhibited in national textile exhibitions and currently sell my work through my business Wild Felt. For the past year I have been teaching regular weekend felt making workshops, I am passionate about keeping this traditional craft alive and thriving.
