In association with the exhibition, Prelude to a Requiem, currently installation at The Audio Foundation, we are pleased to invite you to an artist talk.

In conversation with Cushla Donaldson, Flo Wilson, will explore the themes underpinning her recent work, sound art as a field of practice, and much much more.

Flo’s installation uses sound and video projection to illustrate the liminal headspace that a person enters when he or she prepares to grieve. The work is a preemptive trace which vacillates between acts of love and futility. As her immersive installation slowly builds up into an ambient embrace, her piece asks us how different technologies extend or reduce our modes of being when we grieve. Wilson offers this work and space for people to attune to themselves, the world, and process grief alongside her.

Flo Wilson is a composer, producer and artist based in Tāmaki Makauru/Auckland, Aotearoa/New Zealand whose organic, experimental music creates emotive atmospheres to facilitate shared listening experiences.

Cushla Donaldson is an artist working and living in Auckland, New Zealand. Her cross-disciplinary practice can be characterised by its continued exploration of form and context, and Donaldson’s combining of erudite technical skills with rigorous conceptual impulse.
