Come along to this speaker event, directly after the Forest & Bird Central Auckland branch Annual General Meeting, to hear about the plight of seabirds in the Hauraki Gulf.

Matt Rayner is Curator of Land Vertebrates at Auckland Museum and an ornithologist who specialises in studying seabirds. The talk will outline the work of Matt and his colleagues in seeking to understand and protect the Hauraki Gulfs seabirds’ populations in the face of human induced ecosystem change.

Matt has most recently been involved in a project involving creating new spotted shag breeding grounds using 3D printed shag models, fake bird droppings and bird calls from solar-powered soundsystems.

A koha donation would be appreciated to help with the venue hire and there will be a light supper after. This event is open to all, members and non-members, we’d love to see you there!
