Join Robyn Stables for a five-week series covering the yoga basics. Foundations of Flow, starts Wednesday, 16th October at 7pm. Anyone with a current Kanuka Pass (excluding Intro Offers) is welcome to sign up and attend.

For example, 5 class pass, 10 class pass, month unlimited pass etc.
If you purchase a 5 class pass for this series and can't make certain classes, just let us know and you can use your extra passes at any of our regular 21+ weekly classes over the next 6 months.

The course will work through classic yoga poses (asanas), basic sequences/flows, balances and breathing techniques (pranayama); all to support your journey to become more comfortable at Slow Flow and Power Flow classes, along with supporting your practice at home.

Each week, Robyn will take the class through a gentle flow, and will focus-in on particular parts of the sequence and start to break it down. You'll be given a variety of alignment cues and options to support your body with props as you move. This will be a safe environment with no judgement, and open communication is encouraged to assist with the learning process.

Here's a closer look at what to expect each week of the series:
Week 1: We will start this series with an introduction to the main components of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), working through a gentle flow. We will focus on the Standing Poses and balances, which provide an important basis for your flow classes. We will begin to look at the breath, and how it supports you in yoga flow classes and life in general.

Week 2: Our focus this session (2) will be around the folding aspects of a flow class. We will look at ways to support your yoga practice with warm ups, different options within each pose and strengthening exercises. We will build on our breathing techniques as we work with these poses and a flow sequence.

Week 3: During session 3 we will look at the different types of lunges and warriors that you may come across in a flow class; learning about alignment and supportive strengthening ideas, plus options you can use to pull back in a class if you need to. We will introduce some new breathing techniques (you'll have a few option to try) to support you with these more challenging poses.

Week 4: By session 4, our sun salutations may begin to look different around the room depending on the adaptations you need for your yoga. This week we will look closely at our downward facing dog and plank components of yoga flow. Understanding adjustments that you can use to get the most out of these poses. By now our breathing techniques will be threaded throughout our flow, enabling a more sustainable flow practice; breath + movement.

Week 5: On our last session we will look at the last major component of a Sun Salutation with the techniques to get you in and out of Cobra in a flow class. We will look at options, alignment and strength again for supporting your yoga. Tonight we will play with our breathing techniques and flow variations as we link everything together.

Please Note - as you progress through the series, your shapes and postures will look very different to the people around you. Every single person is unique; bone structures are all different, flexibility isn't always easy for everyone and peoples strength is variable. So, try not to think about the 'look', instead how does it make you feel?

We look forward to flowing with you soon.
