Friendship In the Pali Canon: Meghiya

Meghiya was the Buddha’s attendant in the early days of his wanderings. Meghiya was very keen on meditation and just wanted to find somewhere beautiful to get into a beautiful state of mind.

He found such a place but when he tried to meditate he was assailed by all sorts of distacting thoughts. When he told this to the Buddha, the Buddha the importance of spiritual friendship even in meditation.
