Part of Conservation Week 2019 - conservationweek.org.nz

Celebrate 50 years of Conservation Week by volunteering!

Learn about the work completed in DOC’s Kauri Dieback Recreation Project to prevent the spread of kauri dieback on public conservation land.

Volunteer and experience being part of a Department of Conservation (DOC) team. Learn on-the-job skills and knowledge required for mitigating waterflow on a track.

Work alongside the Recreation and Historic Rangers who maintain the public conservation land.

Play your part in keeping public tracks attractive and protecting Kauri trees. Key tasks include digging with spades, clearing drainage and culverts, lopping overhanging branches and using a grubber to improve the track surface.

Volunteers are invaluable, join in and you'll be protecting New Zealand native flora and fauna.

Volunteers and DOC will meet in the carpark 9:20am for a health and safety briefing plus any training. Before entering the track, you will be shown how to use the Kauri protection wash station for your shoes and any tools containing soil.
