Great Scots – Learmonth Dalrymple and the “wild cry for… an impossible equality with man”.
Prof. Janine Hayward talks about the remarkable life of Miss Learmonth Dalrymple of Port Chalmers. Miss Dalrymple led a seven-year campaign to establish Otago Girls' High School in 1871, organised the petition to gain entry for women at the University of Otago, and played a leading role in achieving female suffrage in 1893.

She is described as having ‘strong adherence to feminine decorum’ and campaigning for the education of women and girls with ‘discreet persistence’.

Toitū OSM – Auditorium.
