A Conservation Week walk through the lowland Ruahine Forest Park to visit the Oroua River, a fast flowing occasional home to the Whio / Blue Duck.
Learn about the conservation work being carried out by the Ruahine Whio Protectors, a collective of devoted people who give up their own time to reduce predator numbers and monitor Whio populations alongside the Department of Conservation. Janet Wilson from the RWP will be your guide.
Walking boots, warm waterproof clothes, food and drink will be needed and a reasonable level of fitness. Please leave dogs at home. Numbers will be limited to 15 so please book on 027 540 5412 between 8.00 am and 4.30 pm.
Children need to be accompanied by adults. (The walk may be cancelled in bad weather).
