Sarah-Jane Limbrick grew up listening to the records of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline and Vera Lynn. Having discovered jazz music during her university years, it wasn’t until her 30’s, that Sarah-Jane formed her first jazz trio, ‘Rouge Jazz’ while living on Waiheke Island.

Influenced by Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, Sarah-Jane focussed on ballads from the great American songbook. From there Sarah-Jane began working with ‘The Silverblue Set Jazz Trio’ playing standards and developing her sound, drawing influence from Anita O’Day, Betty Carter and Etta Jones.

Over the past 8 years Sarah-Jane and the Silverblue Set have been one of the resident bands at the famous Oyster Inn and have featured and performed at many venues, festivals and events. These include the Annual Jazz in the Vines concerts, The Rangihoua Olive Festival, Waiheke Island Wine festival and Auckland City music parks, to name a few.

Sarah Jane is now excited to be working on a new project with the improvisational jazz quartet Fifth°.

Fifth° is a four-piece band, consisting of Haggis Maguiness on harmonica, Andrew Hewat on drums, Caylen Crawford on guitar and Carlos Pla on bass. Influenced by jazz, they explore different styles from traditional to Latin and enjoy interpreting the music of many great artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Don Grolnick, and Steve Kuhn. They also perform original material written by members of the band.

Since its formation in October 2018, Fifth° has played locally and regionally with many talented guest musicians like Nathan Koretz, Grant Mason, Greg Taylor and Mike Booth. The group is now proud to be performing as support band for Sarah Jane in a new chapter of their musical journey.

Do join us for an afternoon of great music; it is a lovely, relaxed way to wind down the weekend.
