Ban the bomb! Dow nuclear disarmament can help mitigate the climate crisis - Lucy Stewart

Did you know:
- The US military produces more carbon every day than all the cars on the road currently in the US?
- US$105 billion a year is spent on the global nuclear weapons industry?
- The target of the UN Green Climate Fund is to secure US$100 billion a year?
- There are still over 13,000 nuclear weapons worldwide, and all nine nuclear-armed States are modernising their arsenals?
- Nuclear-armed India and Pakistan are clashing again over Kashmir?
- The smoke alone from a small nuclear war in South Asia would cause nuclear winter and global famine?
- In 2017 a Treaty to ban nuclear weapons was negotiated by over 122 States?

Join Lucy Stewart, the Disarmament and Security Centre’s (DSC) Coordinator, for a discussion on why nuclear disarmament should become part of the growing worldwide struggle for emergency action on the climate crisis. The DSC is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, based here in Otautahi, which has been working on disarmament issues for over 40 years in the areas of disarmament education, research and policy.
