Amy's infant massage courses are held in a warm cosy room at Ngaio Natural Health Centre in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
The course has a flexible structure that takes parents and babies through different massage strokes and gives parents an opportunity to share experiences and offer each other support in a caring environment.
Babies may or may not choose to participate on the day depending on their mood and sleep times and that is absolutely fine.
The course is open to babies from newborn to 6 months (pre-crawling).
Touch is a powerful medium that promotes attachment and aids brain development, building long term foundations for strength, resilience and self love. Touch is the first sense to develop in utero and the last to leave us when we die.
The Circle of Security Attachment Theory tells us that in parent-infant relationships, co-regulation leads to healthy self regulation in babies, throughout childhood and into their adult lives. Touch through massage is one of the first ways we can help our babies relax and bond with us, as well as assisting them to navigate their moods, emotions and sense of well-being. Taking an infant massage class is a great way to learn techniques and feel confident to incorporate massage into family life.
Amy is mum to four year old Emily and has been practicing as a Massage Therapist for seven years. She is a strong advocate of the healing benefits of touch and believes massage can promote recovery, improve health and maximise well-being.
