Jade Carving Tour

Come and discover the long-standing tradition of jade carving on the West Coast!

Every day this summer you can join a free guided tour of our jade carving workshop in Hokitika. You'll get to meet local West Coast artists and see how they transform raw stone into carved art, discovering the different tools and techniques used to craft jade by hand.

Your guide will take you on a journey into the important role pounamu plays in Māori culture, exploring its traditional uses and values and uncovering the legends and stories which breathe life into the stone.

Tours are free and run daily at 9.30am & 2.30pm, no bookings are required.
