Irish writer John Boyne’s latest book, A Ladder to the Sky, is "an ingeniously conceived novel that confirms Boyne as one of the most assured writers of his generation." — The Guardian.

The author of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Heart’s Invisible Furies, and the just-released YA novel My Brother’s Name is Jessica, is one of Ireland’s greatest writers. In this special event he speaks with writer, Pip Adam, about creating an ‘unforgettable protagonist’ who is described as ‘dangerous and irresistible in equal measure’ and other literary secrets.

Presented in association with Dunedin Writers Festival with the support of Culture Ireland. With thanks to National Library of New Zealand. John Boyne will be speaking in conversation with Pip Adam, winner of the Acorn Foundation Prize for Fiction in 2018.

About the speaker:
John Boyne was born in Ireland in 1971. He is the author of 11 novels for adults, five for younger readers and a collection of short stories.

His 2006 novel The Boy In the Striped Pajamas sold more than 10 ten million copies worldwide and has been adapted for cinema, theatre, ballet and opera.

John has won three Irish Book Awards and many other international literary awards and his novels are published in over 50 languages. He lives in Dublin.
