Kura Gallery Ltd

Kaitiaki, an exhibition of new works by carver sculptor Joe Kemp (Ngai Tahu, Nga Puhi, Te Arawa).

Joe Kemp has been carving for over 20 years. Working in stone, wood and other natural materials, his pieces have been sold locally, nationally and even globally.

This exhibition he has created for Kura Gallery is based around the ethereal connection between whenua (land) and tangata (people) through the mediums given to us by Papatuānuku (earth mother) and Tāne Māhuta (forest father).

A series of large carved scupltures of native timbers such as rimu and totara stand sentinal in the gallery space inviting you into another realm.

Kemp's new series of works are a contemporary frame in which to view our current world.
