Well-being is becoming one of the most important concepts in the vocabulary of New Zealand’s public administration.

Not just because of the Government’s new Wellbeing Budget, or the reintroduction of the four well-beings to the Local Government Act, but because it is becoming the new way to measure and define success.

Still, despite its spike in significance, wellbeing is poorly understood.

Economics consultancy, Infometrics, specialises in using web-based data tools to make complex economic information accessible to a wide audience. Join us for the launch of their new report on Regional Wellbeing. Discover exactly what wellbeing means, why it is important, and which areas need the most attention to improve the wellbeing of Wellington.

Infometrics’ economists, Gareth Kiernan and Brad Olsen, will discuss the report, providing clarity over how wellbeing can be calculated and compared across the country at a regional or territorial authority level. They’ll also demonstrate how the wellbeing data can be used by local government to inform their actions.

You’ll see how Wellington stacks up against other regions on indicators that focus on the past, present and future, such as crime figures, household income, and population age profiles. You will also learn about the opportunities and challenges we face as wellbeing becomes an increasingly prevalent objective nationwide.

What’s more, you’ll get a grasp on how to use wellbeing data to inform your own business decisions. Take the guesswork out of planning and build your organisation’s wellness.
