Michele Grace Davies says that her life in the U.K did not lend itself to being an artist. She moved back to New Zealand fourteen years ago and has worked as a self-employed gardener for the last ten.

Michele loves our native trees and views working in amazing gardens and bush areas as… “a great privilege”. In her working life, she has had the opportunity to study how they grow and form their individual structures.

Last year a photographic workshop in the Waitakere ranges led to a moment of clarity when Michele was suddenly inspired to start painting again. In that moment, she also realised what she wanted to paint and since that day she hasn’t stopped. “Each new idea inspires another! so here I am today with my first ever Solo exhibition”.

These stunning paintings by this exciting emerging artist celebrate Kauri and other native trees in all their magnificent glory. Michele also aims to highlight the conservation of Kauri through this exhibition and says…

“We have to protect this majestic tree of which many stories and legends are told, they are part of us, all peoples!”. This new year come and be awed by Michele’s vision and the beauty of creation.
