Model trains, boats and planes.
For the modeller and all the family. Show now in its fifth year with new displays and exhibitors.

Model trains will be operating all day with a variety of scenic backdrops with layouts from the Auckland Marklin Club, Western Districts Model Rail Club and individual enthusiasts.

Layout scenes include a Hundertwasser village, a narrow gauge sawmill railway, a mainline station with a fully lit town square behind it, a marshalling yard, an arboretum, a quarry with moving equipment, an accident scene and much more.

Trains at any one time may include classic electric, diesel and steam locomotives hauling passenger trains, a coal train or mixed freight wagons spanning over a hundred years of railway operation.

Locomotives with sound effects and smoke will run. Small layouts will be available for children to learn to operate themselves. There will be displays of radio-controlled model aircraft by Hibiscus Coast Radio Flyers.

There will be a selection of warships from World War II modelled in 1:96 or 1:144 scale. They are expected to be HMS Exeter (Battle of the River Plate), HMS Repulse and aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal. These models are 2- 3 metres long. Related historical material will tell of the glorious history of each ship.

As well as enjoying the displays you have the opportunity to learn about modelling from club members and to join a club of fellow enthusiasts.

All proceeds support further shows and the modelling hobby. Organised by the Auckland Marklin Club. The photos show scenes from previous shows.
