Naked Girls Reading: Wellington Shows! 2019

Naked Girls Reading NZ is so excited for our 2019 shows, we’re practically tearing our clothes off!

This year, everyone’s favourite nude, rude and beloved cult cabaret will be bringing not one but FIVE delicious original editions to the infamous Fringe Bar in 2019. We’ve gathered some of the city’s finest whip-smart sluts and hussies to read a dizzying variety of literature from Aotearoa and abroad. It’s an outrageous and innovative theatre experience not to be missed.

Naked Girls Reading is exactly what is sounds like! Completely naked women reading literature aloud. It's hosted, as always, by the adorable Hugo Grrrl. All shows a bargain, starting at just $20 on Eventfinda.

Naked Boys Reading - 8.00pm, Saturday, February 9th 2019.

Boys! In the buff! With books! Oh my! After a stunner sold out NBR last year, we figured we’d let the boys have a crack again. (Or, rather, show their cracks.) This time completely naked men will be reading literature aloud onstage: an unmissable celebration of naked bodies, good storytelling, and wholesome masculinity. Catch our cast of slutty hunks baring it all for one night only.

The Pride Edition - 8.00pm, Saturday, April 13th 2019.

We’re here, we’re queer, we’re naked! These unclad, clever queers have picked their favourite bits of iconic LGBTQIA literature to recite for you. Expect excerpts of everything from Ivan Coyote to campy fanfiction, coming out stories to Brokeback Mountain. We’re ready to fuck the cis-tem, the patriarchy and the heteronormative power structures that be, one piece of literature at a time.

The Environmental Edition - 8.00pm, Saturday 8th June 2019.

Feeling a little green? Our environmental edition will sort you out! We’ll be in full bloom in our natural habitat this July with a lush, ripe and fertile show all about the ultimate nude goddess, Mother Earth. From the whomping willow to An Inconvenient Truth, The Lorax to GMO, Darwin and Margaret Atwood: we’ll be skipping down the garden path of all things dirty in every sense with this edition.

The Kink Edition - 8.00pm, Saturday 17th August 2019.

Oil your chains, buckle your collars and gussy your ball gags! Our kink edition promises to be a slutty, sordid, scholarly and thoroughly sadistic affair - an intellectual adventure in fetish exhibitionism unlike any other. Expect excerpts of everything kinky; from The Secretary to The Ethical Slut, from Twilight to sacred kink and what may well be out most outrageous fanfiction yet. It’s a show that’s sure to whip you into shape.

The Sci-Fi Edition - 8.00pm, Saturday 19th October 2019.

To infinity, and beyond! It’s spacey, spooky and other-worldy. We’ll be travelling at the speed of light the literary landscape of the universe in an evening at our sci-fi show; from H G Wells to Hitchhiker’s Guide, from David Bowie to Carl Sagan. (Maybe even some probing alien erotica!) Come blast off with us this October.
