Join us this Labour Weekend at Te Wero Island in the Viaduct Harbour for free family activities and interactive talks.
Throughout the long weekend, kids can cut out their own edible/medicinal native flora from the selection of templates, puzzle them together, colour them in and add them to our Native Forest.
This is a chance to get creative and re-create native flora like manuka flowers and leaves, kumarahou (gum diggers soap), watercress, lacebark, kawakawa, piko piko.
On Saturday 26, Sunday 27 and Monday 28, at 11am and 2pm, guest speakers will offer talks, including from Auckland Museum’s very own Robert Vennell, author of The Meaning of Trees (Saturday 26 October, 11AM).
An interactive live plant table (kindly supplied by Kaipara Coast Nursery) offers taste tests of these native edible in an area for relaxing and reading.
