Newmarket MTB Litter Collection

Newmarket MTB Litter Collection's aim is to collect litter at Newmarket Park and Ayr Reserve as the "Newmarket Mountain Biking Club"

Litter blows from the road and into both parks, bins fall over and spill onto the street too, interestingly these parks used to be landfills so there are some quite large chunks of concrete, bricks etc which we won't be tackling at this particular event but anything manageable can be removed (read—we don't want to put concrete or bricks in the rubbish bins).

The litter collected is to be put into the bins in Newmarket Park [Ayr Reserve only has a dog poo bin]

Please take a photo of the collected litter and post it online using @newmarketmtb #newmarketmtb for Instagram/Twitter etc and of course @docgovtnz #docgovtnz.

Some notes:
Bring your own gloves, bags, lunch, warm clothes etc consider wearing soccer/rugby boots for the steep stuff!

Children should be accompanied by an adult or suitable guardian - there is a large drainage culvert/stormwater drain leading to the estuary of Hobson Bay at the bottom of both parks.

To access Ayr Reserve from Newmarket Park - Ayr Street must be crossed on foot so please be aware of traffic.

Both parks are very close to Newmarket and easily walked-to down Cowie Street and over the new rail bridge from there.

There are toilets and a drinking fountain at Newmarket Park only.

The organiser will notify Auckland Council of the collection and the need to collect the excess waste from the area (by the bins).
