Nga Kapahaka o Te Pihopatanga Whakatane

Interschool Catholic Kapahaka Competition hosted by St Josephs School Whakatane. Hato Hohepa Whakatane are pleased to host the 2019 inaugural Catholic Schools Haka Competition.

Hato Hohepa Whakatane are in a period of strengthening and revitalisation of kaupapa for our school, community and tamariki. One way of doing this is to provide a platform for our children to perform Kapa Haka.

It is our hope that through kapa haka children develop a passion for Te Reo Maori, strengthen our whanaungatanga ties and build a strong foundation our school to continue into the future.
We look forward to hosting you in the rohe of Ngati Awa.

Performances will be held on Friday 24 May, from 0900 am, and this will start with Karakia. Prizegiving will occur at the end of the days performances. There are competitive ( Whakataetae ) and Non competitive categories to include all of the children that want to perform.
