On Sunday 3 November at 3pm, respected and celebrated New Zealand artist Nigel Brown, will give an informal Floor Talk as part of his current exhibition Southern Interactions.

In the year 2000, Nigel Brown and his partner Sue McLaughlin moved to Cosy Nook on the rugged Southland coast, where they resided and worked for over 15 years, and on occasion gifted works to the Eastern Southland Gallery’s permanent collection. A shift north to Dunedin in late 2015 facilitated the generous gifting of a further eight paintings – several of which referenced the artist’s time in the far south. Another 35 works would follow.

The exhibition and publication title Southern Interactions was chosen to highlight the artist’s personal connections to the southern coastal landscape, notable personalities linked to the south in a broader historical sense, and the artists and craftspeople he often hosted and collaborated with.

Nigel will talk about the work in the exhibition and his time living on the southern coast at Cosy Nook. This is a special opportunity to meet the artist and gain a detailed insight into his work.

All welcome.
