The 11th annual Optimist Challenge, the only ranking regatta for this sailing class in the South Island. Around 160 Optimist sailors will battle it out on the waters near Picton.
They will be joined by a fleet or 40 or so of Starling sailors and numerous family members and support crew coming from all over New Zealand to taste Picton hospitality.
The event consists of 3 days of racing, with the Open Optimist and Starling fleets will sail in the outer Harbour. The Optimist Green and Rainbow fleet will create their spectacle in front of the QCYC yacht club and Shelley Beach.
Come ad cheer on the local and other sailors. Refreshments available all day.
