Exploring Whanganui’s Landscape

Whanganui’s landscape is formed from the soft clay soil known as papa. Papa, or in full Papatuanuku, is also the Maori name for Mother Earth. The geology of the region is primarily formed through the flow and movement of the Whanganui River and it’s delta, the volcanic activity of the Central Plateau and the wild West Coast beaches. This exhibition explores my response, through the mediums of pastels, etchings, collagraphs and assemblage, to this very ancient, rich and spiritual landscape.
