2019 marks the first Pettinice Cake Show and Competition hosted by NZ Bakels Pettinice. During the weekend, attendees view works of sugar art, learn new techniques in the mini-classes, watch on-site live decorating competitions and demonstrations and of course, enjoy shopping from our vendors.
Cake Competition
This year's theme is: Cake Art. The cake competition is open to everyone and all the details can be found on our website. Competitors will need to translate art pieces into a form of cake and sugar art, taking inspiration from paintings or sculptures. Does Art Nouveau move you? Perhaps you prefer Surrealism. The choice is yours! A postcard sized photo of your art piece inspiration is to be displayed alongside your competition entry. We have over $7k in prizes!
Demonstrations
There will be two demonstration stages, featuring cake artists and patisserie chefs who will share a multitude of decorating techniques throughout the weekend.
Classes
Instructors are offering a variety of classes from edible painting to chocolate work and more. Beginning or advanced students interested in learning techniques through a variety of mini classes are available throughout the Cake Show weekend. Class space is limited, so be sure to sign up quick.
Cupcake Alley / Cookie Corner / Mixology Station
We have free activities, such as decorating your own cupcake or cookie - or see what colours you can create with Pettinice at our mixology station.
Shopping:
We will have a vendor's hall where you can purchase the latest tools for your decorating needs. Vendors will display and demonstrate products unique to our industry.
The Pakuranga Ruby Club is located at 78 Bells Road, Pakuranga in East Auckland, and minutes from the motorway. The facility is spread out over two floors, with lift access. There are three main spaces designated for vendors, mini-classes, demonstrations and cake competition area. There is plenty of free parking and ground level access directly into the facility. The location is 30 minutes from the Auckland Airport, and close to Sylvia Park and Botany Town Centre.
Buy your ticket online for a show bag. You can also purchase your tickets at the door. Remember to purchase your Pettinice Cake Show pass. Buy one day, get one day free per pass, so that you can enjoy the entire weekend! Kids 12 and under are free.
