Come along to the Central City Library and join Jasmin Singh and Helen Yeung from Auckland’s Migrant Zine Collective in this child-friendly event in creating a zine on Sustainability and Identity!

You will be asked to print a pattern inspired by a recognisable fabric design, to be over-layed with illustrations, collages, prose, poetry, ranting, questions, or anything else you’d like in line with the theme. These artworks will be scanned and collated into a zine, which will be kept at the Auckland Central City Library Zine collection.

This event is free, open to all ages, with all materials provided and no RSVP or booking necessary. All you have to do is pop in between the times of 11:00am to 3:00pm.

Migrant Zine Collective is an activist-based zine collective aiming to amplify, celebrate and share the voices of migrants-of-colour in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The idea kickstarted in early 2017 upon the release of GEN M (short for “Generation Migrant”), a zine collated and self-published by Helen Yeung in the hopes of celebrating her own Hong Kong-Chinese diasporic background, along with personal stories of individuals in the Auckland community.
