About the course:
The quickest way to make progress in anything in life is to rely upon the skillful guidance of a person who is already fully accomplished in what we are trying to achieve. For example, if we want to learn to play a musical instrument or to speak a new language we first find someone who is qualified to teach us. This is also true in our spiritual life – we need to rely upon an authentic and well-qualified Spiritual Guide to help us make swift progress in our spiritual training.

All schools of Buddhism agree that the practice of relying upon a Spiritual Guide, is the root of the spiritual path and the foundation of all spiritual attainments. On this course, we look at how to develop confidence and trust in a Spiritual Guide, why having a Teacher or Spiritual Guide is central to our spiritual progress, and how to deepen our experience of the precious practice of reliance on our Spiritual Guide.

The course will consist of practical advice and guided meditation. Although this course is especially suitable for those with some previous experience of Buddhist meditation, anyone with sincere interest is welcome to attend.

The Teacher:
Gen Kelsang Rabten is the National Spiritual Director for Kadampa Buddhism in Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia. He is presently the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Brisbane. Gen Rabten has trained under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for over twenty-five years. His deep faith in Buddha’s teachings, and the sincerity of his practice inspire many people to embark on a meaningful and rich spiritual life.

Cost includes lunch and morning/afternoon tea.
