Toasting marshmallows and cosying up under blankets around the campfire for some stellar stargazing. Sounds divine, doesn’t it? We can’t quite offer that, but we can come pretty close! Bring the kids along to Stardome these holidays, where for an hour and a half they’ll be transported from Auckland City to the ultimate stargazing setup.
They’ll explore the stars in the night sky, the stories of the constellations that connect them together and learn about our eyes into the universe… telescopes!
Starting in the Space Room ‘activity centre’, they’ll explore hands-on activities, experiments and technology all about looking up! Then, they’ll head outside (weather permitting) and launch water-powered rockets. Finish up in the planetarium, where they’ll catch the 360-degree show Spring Stories in the Sky. Hear the stories of the myths and legends of the constellations and learn how to spot certain stars, planets and other celestial sights in the sky yourself!
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for shows. Late entry into the planetarium is not possible once the show has started.
Note: Children must be accompanied by an adult 16 years and over. The programme is 1.5 hours long, consisting of the 3 above components.
