Scleroderma, also known as Systemic Sclerosis or CREST, is a rare autoimmune disease that causes the body to produce excessive collagen which is laid down in the skin, internal organs & vascular system. This results in the areas that have been affected "turning to stone."

The areas of the body that are most frequently affected include the skin, heart, lungs, digestive system, kidneys & vascular system. Most also have Raynaud's Phenomenon which can result in the fingers, toes & other peripheral areas turning white then blue & finally bright red as circulation is restored. This is an extreme reaction to stress &/or a change of temperature. The damage it causes can result in ulcers & potentially amputation.`

Many patients with Scleroderma will often have other similar diseases such as Lupus or Sjogrens so we welcome anyone with other autoimmune connective tissue diseases to our meetings as well.

We meet on the last Sunday of every second month. Our meetings are relaxed but informative. We cover a topic or have a speaker at each meeting. This month we will be discussing what tests you should be having & how often in order to track your disease progress.

You are welcome to join our Facebook page & Facebook Private Group (only other members can see you are on there).
