Beachcare Awhitu are once again celebrating Seaweek by holding a Coastal Walk along five of our beautiful Harbour beaches on Sunday 17th March (St Patrick’s Day) so we will have a Green theme with:
- A short talk on the Shorebirds you may see on the Manukau Harbour;
- The distribution of bags for collecting tideline rubbish;
- At the walks end a Display of Pest Control with Landcare pest officers and a display of our homegrown native sand-binding and dune plants.

Entry: Gold coin donation to Beachcare.

Meet: 11am at Wattle Bay Reserve, Dodds Road, Awhitu Peninsula, Franklin.
Walk-5 bays from Wattle to Grahams Beach, via Orua, Big Bay, Hudson’s Beach.
Suitable for all walkers and families – average time 2 hours.

Need: Good non-slip shoes – mostly sand but some rocky/muddy headlands to negotiate; suitable clothing for weather conditions, water bottle, sun screen, hat.

Refreshments, including local artisan foods, available to purchase at the walks end at Hudson’s Beach. Shuttle bus will be at Hudsons 1.30pm onwards to take drivers back to Wattle Bay.

Dogs permitted on lead only (shorebirds).
