Friday 8 March 2019, 3.30 – 5.30pm. Gate 1, Hamilton Gardens, Kirikiriroa Hamilton. We are meeting in the field by the Gate 1 car park.
To celebrate and acknowledge NZ Seaweek, Kirikiriroa Explorers are having a special session. Our focus is the Waikato River, which connects to the Ocean.
3.30-4pm – Gather, have a go at making flowers out of harakeke, ‘adopt a drain campaign’
4-4.30pm – Dog Awareness and playing with pups, thanks to Ellie
4.30-5pm – Bush exploration, kōrero about what goes in the River and what happens when it reaches the Sea, litter pick.
5-5.30 – Fun in the river (and litter picking). Some of us are staying for a picnic afterwards, too!
Please bring:
- Hat and sun cream
- Swimwear, towel and change of clothes
- Water, snacks and picnic
- [Optional] Picnic mat or chairs
Kirikiriroa Explorers is a child and family oriented adventure group based in Kirikiriroa Hamilton, New Zealand.
We run term-time Fridays from 3.30-5.30pm and each week we go on a different adventure that engages children with nature, environmental care, and active citizenship.
All sessions are free (koha is welcomed).
