Seaweek is New Zealand’s annual national week about the sea. Supporting sea week and educating people about the sea is strongly aligned with the Trust vision to encourage New Zealanders to have a new appreciation for our environment.
NZ Sailing Trust & Rotoroa Island are excited to be part of Seaweek and to take New Zealanders to explore the sea.
On this outing to Rotoroa Island we hope everyone will develop an appreciation of what it took to sail these yachts around the world and complete a challenge with a sense of respect and admiration for their fellow sailors and the sea.
We have a few activities we can do to learn about the marine environment and the Hauraki Gulf.
On arrival at Rotoroa Island we will have the opportunity to explore the island and what it has to offer. Jo Ritchie, the islands Ecologist will give a talk about the coastline work happening on the island.
The NZ Sailing Trust was set up in 2008 to preserve the legacy of the adventures of Sir Peter Blake, his racing teams and his vessels. Today we are achieving these goals by collaborating with schools and youth organisations to help young New Zealanders experience the thrill of sailing on one of New Zealand legendary yachts.
Our sailing adventures are run on board to help inspire the next generation about the environment and the maritime industry.

Rotoroa is an island sanctuary and a place to experience first hand the conservation of iconic NZ Zealand species. A place to discover the history of the island at the museum, explore the beaches and walk around the native bush at your leisure. www.rotoroa.org.nz
