Local sculptors wielding everything from small chisels to chainsaws will descend on Hastings’ Albert Square for the 2019 SEED Sculpture Symposium later this month.

The event will once again see the participating artists produce sculptural works in a public setting, giving viewers a rare opportunity to witness the evolution of the artworks. The artists will work in a variety of media including Oamaru stone, wood, clay, acrylic and cardboard. Each artist will create a minimum of one artwork during the four-day event, working a minimum of six hours per day on site.

The following artists are confirmed for the event: Chris Elliott, Claire Sadler, Francisca Obers, Hugh Tareha, JiL of Aotearoa, Morag Shaw, Sean Geenty, Stephanie Drew, and Stewart Brodie.

Art lovers will also have the opportunity to purchase the finished sculptures!
