So much of what is happening in politics and society right now parallels what happens within Shakespeare’s plays – and we’re not just talking Trump. With this in mind, the ‘new takes’ on the works of the Bard will be performed by Taranaki students in Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand’s University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festivals (SGCNZ UOSWSF).

In their 5- and 15- minute scenes, they re-envisage the aggressors, the megalomaniacs, the despots, the abusers, the meek and many more identifiable personalities. School groups and home-schooled students throughout the Taranaki region will perform in the SGCNZ UOSWSF at TET Kings Theatre. Two of the most outstanding performances will have an encore at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington over Queen’s Birthday weekend.
