Starting Monday 28th October to Sunday 3rd November, opening daily from 10am to 5pm.

Payments by eftpos are welcome. An ideal opportunity to buy unique, locally made jewellery, treat yourself or buy as a gift.

The Silversmiths’ Guild of Canterbury was founded by an inspired group of individuals based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. For almost four decades the Guild has served as a place of education, offering affordable courses throughout the year, during the evening or day, with the empasis on the sharing of techniques and knowledge.

Students gather basic techniques during a Level 1 course, and can expand these at Level 2. After that, students can join the Guild as members. For a modest fee members use the studio facilities and take part in monthly workshops to learn new techiniques, for example silver clay, enamelling and lost wax casting.

What begins with curiosity becomes a passion for some. Several of our students have gone on to become today’s tutors. The creative process of designing, then bringing to life an idea in metal using ancient skills, is enduringly rewarding.
