Sons of Henrik are an all-original acoustic/electric rock band based around the vocal and poetically lyrical talents of Nik Henriksen and the melodic guitar riffs of Kane Raisey.

Their self-described musical style is “Rock-oustic Anthems & Power Ballads” and they draw inspiration from their Viking/Kiwi ancestry, experiences and a love of 70’s/80’s music. Nik being a big Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music fan while Kanes guitar influences being of the Judas Priest/Black Sabbath kind. The result being a blend of Niks soulful vocals, heartfelt lyrics and rhythmical acoustic guitar embellished by Kanes fiery yet subtle overdriven guitar hooks.

SOH also often call on the mad skills of trumpeter Matt Mear. Matt adds “sprinkles” of horn(y) magic and attitude to the set. The addition of towering 6ft 6” drummer Hamish Evans to SOH in 2018, sees them ready to take their songs to the next level and bring epic guitar-centric power ballads and anthems to local original music fans.

Based in Napier, New Zealand, SOH has been a project bubbling away since 2008 when Nik and Kane started writing original songs together which resulted in a single all acoustic gig of their collection at the then recently re-opened Cabana Bar. Nik relocated to Spain for 8 years and upon his return to Napier, these two old high school friends started writing music again.

SOH have about 2 hours (and growing) of all original songs with lyrical content that covers a range of topical issues and real life experiences. They can play their songs as a duo (2 x guitars), trio (with either trumpet or drums/percussion) or as a full band.

Sons of Henrik will leave you remembering the raw and epic power ballads of days gone by... contemplating thought-provoking lyrics whilst humming their catchy melodies for the next few days.
