Style and Substance: A Journey Through the Collection

Taking a journey through the Dunedin Public Art Gallery's historical collection, Style and Substance looks to the genre systems that have occupied art history discourses for centuries.

Divided into six themes - history painting, portraits, genre painting, landscapes, still life and animal paintings - this exhibition explores each genre and the various style and subjects they encompass.

Style and Substance includes works by Frances Hodgkins, John Constable, Zanobi Machiavelli, Vanessa Bell, Rita Angus, Petrus van der Veldon and many more.
