SweetArts Christmas Exhibition

Welcome to our Christmas exhibition of new artworks.

We are delighted to introduce you to two new collections of work.

The Colours of Lucca
Following art studies in Tuscany in 2015 and 2019, we present for the first time our oil sketches, completed ‘en plein air’ at the beautiful locations depicted in the work.

With just a few hours at each location, we had to get our compositions down very quickly, and with a palette limited by what we could carry.

Final touch-ups have been added in the studio, along with a finishing coat of varnish.
We also present a series of small ink and watercolour sketches.

We are also proud to present 'The Birth of Colour' Series.

Ellen Hodgetts presents a new collection of abstract, acrylic artworks.

"I generally create paintings in highly vibrant colours. My favourite mediums are fluid and liquid acrylic, and the intensity of pigments and versality of these paints encourages exploration. However, I was experimenting with new techniques, and I wanted to take a step back to basics. Starting with a black and white palette and then introducing aspects of colour, I just got carried away with one painting and another until a whole series was born!"
