Te Ara Kakariki are working hard to improve biodiversity in Canterbury by creating a native corridor of green dots, linking the mountains to the sea and Lake Ellesmere. So far we have planted at 73 greedot sites. Join us for a volunteer planting day at two green dot sites in Hororata. An ecologist will introduce you to each site and give a planting demonstration. Spades and gloves are supplied as well as lunch and dinner.
Transport
We provide buses from sites around Christchurch and on the way to the first site, please select the stop nearest to you when registering. Buses will pick you up between 8am and 8.45am and return you back between 4:30 and 5pm.
Food
We provide morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch. The two planting groups will come together at the end of the day for a dinner in a local hall. Please advise of dietary restrictions when registering. Drinking water and hot drinks will also be available during the day.
