There are a lot of reasons for the anxiety epidemic amongst teenagers these days. It's worth knowing what they are, how they impact upon the brain, and what you can do about it.

- Learn about where anxiety occurs in the brain
- Find out how to de-escalate anxiety
- Discover new ways to respond so your teen feels heard
- Actively listen so they solve their own problems
- Deepen your connection & relationship

When a human being is in a state of upset the usual approaches often don’t work. Thomas Gordon, founder of Parent & Teacher Effectiveness Training in the 1970s called these the 12 roadblocks some of which include – giving advice, reassurance, suggesting solutions… they all seem harmless enough but with adults you’ll notice a change of subject or withdrawal and with teenagers it might be more dramatic – a slammed door or a few rude words directed your way.

But what do you do instead of the usual approach? And if your son or daughter is in a funk, how do you have the kind of conversation where they will open up instead of withdraw, where they will connect with you instead of moving further away?

In this 90 minute seminar I will talk about how NLP coaching can help both parents and teenagers and we will do some exercises that can make an immediate difference in your relationships at home. You will also leave with some a list of powerful resources to follow up on and some options for giving your teenagers the kind of responses you wish you had had at that age.

David is a former high school teacher of English and Drama and is also a qualified NLP Master Practitioner, Transforming Communication Course Instructor and Eriksonian Hypnotherapist.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has been around since the 1970s. It’s a process of modelling precisely how successful people talk to themselves and visualise their goals in life so those models can be shared with others – just like you might share a great recipe with a friend – but these recipes are about how to programme your mind!

David has worked with a number of teenage clients since starting his practice in 2015 and has witnessed some impressive U-turns in attitude, motivation and focus. He offers Life and Mindset Coaching for the whole family and is passionate about sharing these skills with the community.
