The Ambassadors is a series of works inspired by motifs in Hans Holbein’s 1533 painting of the same name. These motifs address, most significantly, themes of discord and morality.
Each artwork serves as a symbolic yet playful interpretation of these themes, both witty and tactile in nature. This series is an extension of the show, Carnal Treasures (2018) produced in response to Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights (1495- 1505). It features, again, the Nonimal figures Savage is becoming known for.
