A guided paper collage course to extend your creativity and develop concepts in a supportive learning environment.
Paper collage is a forgiving, quick and effective form of art-making that allows you to create your own images from a variety of sources. The technique was, and is still today, used by many artists. In this course you will learn to assemble unique collaged artworks in your preferred genre and to a theme of your own choosing.
The tutor will guide the class through a range of techniques, and provide individual assistance with students as needed. Using a variety of sources and materials, collage can disrupt at the same time unsettle, often allowing the artist to challenge and invite the viewer to think and consider. You will be guided to learn new techniques, test new ideas, or develop further in a friendly encouraging environment.
Materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own items if you are developing or testing an existing concept.
Who should attend The Art of Paper Collage? Open to new and experienced alike. This is a hands-on course to support the experienced artist develop, or the hobbyist to get acquainted to a versatile technique which can be helpful in a variety of applications, from quilting to scrap-booking, to zines and conceptual artworks and painting.
You will take a lunch break during the workshop so we encourage you to bring along a sandwich and stay onsite at Selwyn College for an opportunity to mix and mingle with other course-goers.
